He and his family are part of that "sovereign citizen" movement of nuts who claim they don't need to obey laws. They tend to be armed and love picking fights to prove their sovereignty. His mother pulled the same shit last year. Evidently he was driving with a fake license plate since, being sovereign, he didn't have to obey the state's traffic laws, which is what led to the traffic stop. I have no trouble believing he got violent since he wouldn't have believed he needed to listen to them, being so sovereign.
