You're right it doesn't. But these days chances of getting outed are very easy and simple. Lots of people will check out the model rather than a few. No longer are the days when it's a few handful of people on underground forums sleuthing. Now it's thousands from around the world that gather info and start harassing people.

Also keep in mind that back then reverse image search didn't exist, there were no facial recognition software at least widely available to be used. Names to faces were rare unless you were a public figure or something. Maybe if the model was gay it was easy to find through bar gossip is well known gay cities, but g4p models could have totally passed off anonymously back then unless they plastered themselves on purple (Like Aaron jJames on MTV true life). Facebook and Instagram changed the game.
