~All About Abe~

Can't believe this happened. I texted Abe pretending to be Jayden (Ryan Pinney), asking him for advise as someone was threatening to expose my gay porn past to my family and friends. Never would I have expected him to then call me to talk about the situation. I took this rare opportunity to find out more about Joshua Garrett.

Josh played football for Washing State University but got sucked into the party scene. He did drugs and was eventually caught, facing charges up to 10 years in prison. His friend Ramone flew to LA to film a Sean Cody solo but was sent back due to being overweight. This same friend is who suggested Sean Cody to Josh as a way for Josh to accumulate funds for good lawyers to defend him against the charges that he faced. Josh said he was open to the idea of a solo, it was easy enough. The money offered for sex scenes then piqued his attention. He figured, either he ends up in prison for 10 years and gets raped there, or makes money fucking dudes by his own accord.

Reveling in the celebrity-like way that Sean Cody treats their models, Josh enjoyed this lifestyle of free flights, meals, and more. He said he was young, drug addicted, and in need of money so didn't care about the repercussions or backlash he would face if his loved ones were to find out. He was enjoying life at the time. Josh used up all the money he made for his legal defense and ended up with 3 months in prison, a big reduction from the 10 years he faced. He got into trouble again, a DUI last year, and is still on probation.

High school classmates were the people who first found out about Josh's life as Abe, and spread the news around. People contacted his family online, showing them what he did. He recounts one time when links were sent to his 63 year old mother via Facebook. She told Josh that she thinks she got a message and asked for his help in opening it. He saw what it was and deleted this message swiftly, telling him mother that she had been mistaken.

Josh's parents do know and while his mother is of a don't tell don' speak mind, his father berated him, calling him a faggot and other slurs. Josh fully expected that reaction from his father. After his parents found out, he told them that he made mistakes, poor choices, didn't think long term, and figures that he would just tell them when they would inevitable find out, instead of burdening them with the fact earlier. As of today, he is back on good terms with his family, but he knows that they still judge him and treat him differently than before they found out. He has also lost some friends - even Ramone who was the catalyst to his involvement with Sean Cody! People at work know and don't care. He is grateful for his employers welcoming him back after he went to do his last scene.

We almost got a scene of Abe bottoming. He was offered $10,000 to bottom and decided the price was worth the pain. However the pain ended up being too much. Josh was required to be sober during this scene because, as he said, the fucker Brandon was high on Xanax during his bottoming scene and looked a mess. Sean Cody did not want a repeat of that. Josh couldn't remember the name of his scene partner but he said it's the guy from an island southeast of Florida, and not part of the United States, perhaps a province like Puerto Rico.

In terms of homosexual experiences outside of filming, while it's not for him, Josh has had two. He claims to have been under the influence of some sort of drugs at the time, and was raped - taken advantage of - during the first encounter. Although straight, he sees sexuality as a spectrum and himself at a 5.9, which is surprisingly in the middle as he doesn't hook up with guys.

In this day and age, Josh feels that there shouldn't be a stigma against porn performers. He has had people insult him publically and repeatedly has to stay calm and not let him bother him. He documents these instances of hate and discrimination against him. Josh highly recommends seeing a psychologist to talk through things, especially since he has the drug problem as well as the backlash from doing porn. He advises Jayden to not let these people have power over him, and to take the high road.

Josh wants to reach out to Netflix about making a docuseries on the stigma against porn performers. He moved back with this mother in Tacoma, Washington.

I think this covers everything I learned. We spoke for about 45 minutes. His really a nice guy and I feel bad for taking advantage of his kindness but this are exactly the type of things I want to know. What causes straight men to do gay porn, how to they plan for loved ones finding out, and how do these loved ones react. Feel free to ask any questions about my conversation with him, but I don't recall anything else that I missed.
