What do you mean by unsecured? Zelle is something that a lot of banks in the US are beginning to offer to customers to use to send money to other people (replacing things like PopMoney).

Zelle is secure since it's supported by many of the heavy players in banking in US. The only thing is there are no buyer protections in place i.e. You send money and never hear anything or receive anything after you send money, the banks will no refund or offer any assistance in getting money back. It's basically to be used between sources that trust each other like friends or family.
