I think people are exaggerating the supposed wealth of James' family. Yes, his father is a local businessman/investor in San Diego, but he's not exactly Peter Thiel or some other big shot investor worth untold millions. His current gig seems to be a foray into the social media app market, with an app that sounds terrible to me in the prospectus, and still welcomes outside funding. Not to mention he has three other boys and a wife to provide for. So the Jacoby family probably has a very comfortable life, but let's be realistic. He does seem to show nothing but support for his son and that is great to see. Personally, I think James is a gorgeous person, everyone could get lost in those eyes, and I wish him the very best and hope he doesn't have to escort, or that anyone else as to for that matter, unless they want to, but with Harvard life and going to New York on weekends, that quickly becomes expensive for a student. But who knows? All of this, this entire thread, is just speculation of course :)

But Charles Laurent/Lelievre/whatever his name is has the exact same type of glorified travel pictures, and so do most of the people in his circle. People that are demonstrably not wealthy.. Social Media portrayals aren't very credible, sadly.

But yes, as I said, the family is likely financially very comfortable, and as he is the only future Harvard alumni in the family, or immediate family anyway, they are likely hugely supportive.
